Prime Minister Harper Offers Apology to Chinese CanadiansOn June 22nd, 2006, Prime Minister Steven Harper apologized for the adding of the Head Tax on Chinese Canadians. They also announced that they would be paying symbolic individual payments of $20, 000 to living Head Tax payers and spouses of deceased payers.
More Issues facing Chinese people in Canada There is still racism to Chinese people from a few individuals, whether the government wants it or not. Some bullying is a form of this racism, with specific kids from specific cultures get hurt. Canada might seem very multicultural and safe now, but a few people are still very racist.
